Today, we had our first two International Pupil Council meetings of the new academic year, which was the opportunity for our new councillors to get acquainted. This morning, Francis Mason led the Freetown IPC at Conforti school in Freetown and, this afternoon, Paul Browning led the Hull IPC at Ings Primary School.
The IPC has now been running since 2010 and our focus remains on authentic pupil voice & influence making a difference with collaborations between Hull & Freetown. The theme of the Hull IPC was "You and I Heal the World". After a couple of ice-breaker activities, which gave everyone a chance to mingle with other schools, our students considered the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how we could improve these around the world.
Many thanks go to all the schools, staff and pupils who supported the event. In Hull, we had young people from: Chiltern, Clifton, Endsleigh, Griffin, Ings, Longhill, Oldfleet, Priory, St. James, Stepney and Thanet Primary Schools plus Newland School for Girls.
We are already looking forward to the second IPC meeting, which will be a William Wilberforce workshop at the Wilberforce House Museum in November.
